President Trump The Petulant Child

This just further proves why Donald Trump is a stain on the presidency.

It’s been a White House tradition for decades: a first-term president hosts his immediate predecessor in the East Room for a ceremony to unveil the portrait of the former president that will hang in the halls of the White House for posterity.

Republican presidents have done it for Democratic presidents, and vice versa — even when one of them ascended to the White House by defeating or sharply criticizing the other.

“We may have our differences politically,” President Barack Obama said when he hosted former President George W. Bush for his portrait unveiling in 2012, “but the presidency transcends those differences.”

Yet this modern ritual won’t be taking place between Obama and President Donald Trump, according to people familiar with the matter. And if Trump wins a second term in November, it could be 2025 before Obama returns to the White House to see his portrait displayed among every U.S. president from George Washington to Bush.

Donald Trump has perhaps the most serious case of Obama Derangement Syndrome in the history of the world.

Is the U.S. headed towards a recession greater than the “Great Recession” from a decade ago?

This is absolutely chilling (emphasis added):

The fundamental pillars of Donald Trump’s presidency — a hot economy, strong job growth and a rocking stock market — are all being smashed to splinters by the ravaging coronavirus, which has shuttered much of the nation and now officially ended a streak of 113 months of job gains dating back to the end of the Great Recession a decade ago.

The latest numbers out Friday showed a loss of 701,000 jobs in March and the unemployment rate rising to 4.4 percent from a 50-year low of 3.5 percent. But the figures, though higher than expected, were just a small taste of the nightmare ahead. Friday’s numbers covered just the first two weeks of March, before many of the lockdowns and layoffs began.

The nation has seen 10 million new jobless claims over just the last two weeks, obliterating previous records and suggesting the unemployment rate is already above 10 percent, eclipsing the highest point of the Great Recession.

It will almost certainly go significantly higher, with some economists warning it could top the 24.9 percent hit during the Great Depression. April’s jobs numbers, due in early May, could show a staggering and historic loss of up to 15 million jobs or perhaps more, many forecasters say.

While I’d ordinarily laud any news that damages Donald Trump’s chances of reelection in 2020 the prospect of nearly a quarter of the nation’s workforce being unemployed is absolutely frightening, and it makes me feel like the recently passed stimulus won’t be nearly enough to mitigate what looks to be an impending economic disaster.

President Trumps backs Pete Rose for the Baseball Hall of Fame

Earlier this week disgraced baseball hit king to be reinstated Pete Rose asked to be reinstated by Major League Baseball and earlier today impeached President Donald Trump tweeted out his support for Rose’s induction into the Hall of Fame.

To be honest I’m zero percent surprised Pres. Trump supports Pete Rose’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame – after all cheaters and villains tend to stick together.

Monday Music: “Another One Bites the Dust”

Happy Monday! The Brewers are the hottest team in Major League Baseball, the Cubs are arguably the coldest, and the Brew Crew has a 97% chance of making the playoffs. This weekend was a phenomenal weekend for baseball here in Milwaukee and in honor of our great weekend here’s a little ditty by Queen.

Have a great week!

007 as a woman? Some men just can’t handle that!

Earlier this week news broke that Lashana Lynch from Captain Marvel has been cast as the new 007.

Predictably that news sent some fragile men into an absolute uproar, because how dare they cast anyone other than a man as 007??!?!?

One such example of how triggered some men have gotten is this video from Tyrone Magnus, who starts the video by addressing this whole “female empowerment thing” (and he used actual air quotes while saying it) and talking about how it’s been “forced on us.” Watch for yourselves but be forewarned – the condescension and toxicity is heavy.

While I understand that some men are really threatened at the idea of strong women taking over roles previously given exclusively to men (and by roles I don’t just mean in movies) I’m amused at how triggered and threatened they are. The notion that a role in a movie shouldn’t be given to a woman simply because she’s a woman and the role has always gone to a man is just plain wrong, and it’s the very definition of toxic masulinity.

Toxic masculinity is very real, and it’s something that needs to continue to be challenged.

Former Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt charged with felony relating to post-election misconduct

A couple of months ago I wrote a piece asking if former Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt had broken the law by using a notary seal that didn’t belong to him to falsely swear out a complaint relating to the 2019 election here in Cudahy. Former Mayor Hohenfeldt’s actions were discovered by former aldermanic candidate Arnold Naqellari and this week came news Hohenfeldt has been charged with one count Attempt Falsely Act as Public Official, a class I felony here in Wisconsin.

While I cannot confirm I have been told that after being confronted about his behaviors John Hohenfeldt made some form of admission in writing to the alleged illegal behaviors so it will be interesting to see how his pending criminal case pans out.
